There is magic in the air there. Something that rises up off the water with the sun kissing the faces of every soul walking the forest paths. You can see it, if you look in just the right way. Its in the light filtering down through the canopy, it shimmers off the bits of mica scattered in the soil...

It hums and sings. Dancing through the trees, shaking loose the leaves that have painted themselves with rust and sunsets.
And if you are not paying attention it might send an acorn flying your way telling you to wake up, open your eyes and breathe me in!

It whispers into your dreams while you sleep telling you secrets, leaving wisps of song in the back of your mind. Stroking your hair and reminding you of who you truly are, who you long to be.

It cradles you in your cabin, surrounds you and brings others like you into a web so thick you can pluck its threads like a harp and feel the music all the way down behind your ribs.

It changes you, tenderly peeling back your layers until there is enough room to soak into your skin and become a part of you. Something you take home, something that stretches and pulls the threads over land and sea... If you are still and quiet enough, you can still feel the music. Softer now, a butterfly's wings, gentle but still strong. Strong enough that if you listen to the song, you will hear the magic all around you.

I am off to New Hampshire. I will be taking some workshops and soaking up the love of some fabulous people I have "known" through blogging for several years now but have not yet met in person.

Saturday night I will be selling my Gypsy Wings Jewelry at an art fair, if you live near the area this will be in I would be thrilled if you came by! I have been working my butt off making some fun new items to sell there. Its not often I get out East, so if you are out there I would LOVE a chance to meet you!

I don't even know how to begin. Nancy was so much fun to work with, one of my favorite sessions ever. I am so happy I was able to spend some time with her. She is sweet, and funny, and smart... and has EXCELLENT taste in both clothing AND jewelry. My friend Lisa said "I would love to rummage through her jewelry box..." and I have to say, I agree! I was absolutely drooling over the necklace she chose to wear for her portraits.

The Gardner Family Utah Portrait Photography

While In Utah last month I was honored to be able to photograph the Gardner family. Heather is a photographer herself, and sells some beautiful prints in her etsy shop. I really love the ones of the old trucks, or the Angel statues in the cemetery.

This was a fun family to work with, the children are all completely adorable. I loved the matching dresses on the girls!

Blue October!!!

Last Saturday (August 8th) my hubby and I went to a Blue October concert, and it was SO great! It was exactly 1 year, minus 1 day from the day we last saw Justin Furstenfeld perform at the Breaking Dawn Concert Tour in LA. Both shows were amazing, and each had their own special brand of magic. We will be seeing this band again... and again ;)

When the entire band is together Justin has a VERY intense energy to him, and he is very theatrical. He puts on a great show. He has lost a good 50 pounds in the last year as well and looks like an entirely different person from who we saw a year ago. And of course... I still dig his hair and eyeliner... or "guyliner" I suppose ;) I also dig the new tattoo he has on his face... a little cross I think it is. Looks like a smudged tear from far away... Anyhow, he rocks it.

Sadly, I didn't have my camera with me at the concert, as they didn't allow big camera's into the show... but my hubby got a few on his camera, and my friend Kendra and her hubby were there and got some on their camera. All of the photo's in this post belong to my friend Kendra whom I love to bits and pieces... not just because she let me use them ;) My hubby took this video of Kendra and I when he was pretending to take our picture... LOL!

One of the opening bands, Switchfoot... they were good. So was the other opening band Longwave.

And I have to have at least ONE of Ryan... I mean, common... a guy with devil horns for hair who plays the violin like an angel... He is awesome.

Okay... so I am FINALLY going to start posting some of my Utah sessions here on my blog :) I know... I am so behind!

I was so happy to arrive to my very first session in Utah, and meet Jasmine. She is absolutely ADORABLE and I had so much fun with her. She was so happy, and her energy was contagious.

Jasmine's hair and makeup was done by Dawn Weidauer.

We met pretty early in the morning and already it was VERY bright outside, so we had to work with the light, but I think we got a few keepers ;) Thank you so much Jasmine, for letting me photograph you!

Life is moving along at warp speed... I somehow don't get around to blogging often these days, but there is so much to blog!

School has started. Kayden is in 3rd grade, Jett in Kindergarten. Jett had a rough few days at first... complete with getting sent out of class several times and tearing apart the school counselors office (kicked over his chair and desk, then tore her posters off the wall...) But he seems to be doing better now THANK GOODNESS!

I sent all my jewelry off to Texas to be sold at TwiCon, and sold almost all of it :) That made me smile :)

I am preparing to go to Squam next month... which means I have some late night jewelry making sessions ahead of me.

I finally finished all the edits on my Utah Portrait Sessions... I will start posting those here soon.

I got Blue October tickets for my hubby for Father's Day, and we went to see them on Saturday FREAKING AWESOME!!!! Justin looks like a different person almost with all the weight he lost. What a great show. 2 bands opened for them, Longwave and Switchfoot. I enjoyed them both. But Blue October wins for best show of the evening by FAR. Justin is super intense and very theatrical... I read somewhere that he was involved in Theatre when he was in high school. I loved it.

I am sure there are many things I am missing... but I will have to post it all later :)

My new business cards... What do you think?

WOW! Things have been soooo busy. Insanely busy. But in a good way mostly :) I don't have time to really write it all down so I will do a list :D

Things I have missed blogging:

* Jett turned 5 on June 1st

* Kael turned 4 on July 8th while we were in Utah

* Utah Portrait Sessions went great (more on that later...)

* Driving home from Utah... not so great. My car died in Panguitch Utah and we were stuck in a motel for 2 days until our FABULOUS friend Brent drove 8 hours (each way) to come tow us home. Car is still dead... but Brent ROCKS!

* Summer is great and terrible... I am not someone who can spend all day every day in the company of children... forget I EVER said I would like to home school, I would rather stab myself in the eye with a fork. I mean that in the nicest, most motherly way possible.

* In Utah I got a sunburn, most of my body is freakishly tan now... except a few places that peeled. Me left shoulder and chest have bright pinky white splotches. Its sexy.

* I had a wonderful lunch with friends today at The Elephant Bar. Our poor poor waiter...

*I have read some amazing books the last couple weeks. I got to read the ARCs of Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins and Fire by Kristin Cashore. I loved them both. I need to be an author just so I can join the cool author club and be their friends.

* I am working like a madwoman to finish editing all of the portrait sessions from Utah. I can't wait to share them!

* I am also working like crazy to finish a BUNCH of jewelry for 2 shows coming up in the next couple months. First is TwiCon coming up at the end of this month, and then in September I am selling at Squam... So.Much.To.Do!

* In preparation for TwiCon and Squam I ordered a banner and new business cards... with a spiffy new design :) And also I have made several table signs for my TwiCon table :) What do you think?? They match my banner and new cards :)

I will update again as soon as I can... maybe with a REAL post even! Yay me!

Utah Portrait Sessions

I am planning a trip to Utah in July and will be offering a deal on Mini Sessions for anyone interested in booking a portrait session with me.

Mini sessions are a nice way to get some really great professional portraits taken for an affordable price. A Mini session costs $85 and will include the following:

* 30 to 40 minutes of my full attention in an outdoor location of my choosing. Most likely the sessions will all take place at Star Mill in American Fork. I will be calling the owner today to make arrangements.

* Up to 4 people per session - $10 for each additional person

* 8 full resolution images on a CD with re-printing rights.

* 1 5x7 of your favorite image

Space is limited, I plan to fill no more than 10 time slots during the mornings and afternoon/evenings of Monday and Tuesday July 6th and 7th. Payment will be due upon scheduling, unless we agree to other arrangements. Please email me at georgia.cranston@gmail.com to schedule.

As I was packing for our big move (we are moving this weekend... FINALLY!!!!) I found a box. Inside this box, I found an old notebook of mine. Inside this notebook of mine I found things that horrified me.

This notebook of mine was a journal I kept when I was 14-ish... I think I was demon possessed, or maybe I had been replaced by an evil pod person... All I know for sure, is this person, who was writing in my handwriting, was NOT me. I repeat NOT ME!!!

Seriously, I don't remember thinking, or talking like that... ever. at all. Was I experiencing some kind of evil, bitchy time in my life? I have always had a certain measure of snark and sarcasm... but this was insane, and AMAZINGLY childish... Mom, I don't want to hear your opinions on this. I believe this notebook was planted there by someone who wants to frame me for something. It was not me... cant be.

It will be burned.

The Civil Wars

A lot of people ask me about the music I listen to, so I have decided that I will occasionally blog about different bands or artists I listen to that inspire me and my art :) I like to listen to music on myspace or Pandora while I make my jewelry or edit photos.

I have been myspace friends with a musician named Joy Williams for probably almost three years, and she is enormously talented. Her voice is gorgeous, and her music really makes me smile. It is what I imagine I would be singing if I were in any kind of band still... and if I had ever learned to play that blasted guitar I have in my closet...

One of her songs will be featured on Grey's Anatomy this week (May 14th), so if you watch the show listen for it. The song is called Charmed Life.

Joy is also in a band called The Civil Wars, and I think I might be in love. These two video's make me smile. I downloaded both songs today and have been listening on repeat while I do dishes and pick up around the house. I especially love the Leonard Cohen cover... *sigh*

I think about it sometimes...

Sometimes I think about homeschool... and my kids... and homeschooling my kids...

Other times I cannot wait for all 3 to be in school so I can breathe...

But then I think about it again... and I wonder if it would be something I could do without wanting to sell my kids to the highest bidder.

And then I say "You are thinking crazy thoughts Georgia... you are not the kind of person who could do that."

And then I wonder if it would be good for me AND the kids to homeschool... or if they would only end up learning how to make my jewelry for me so I can have my own little sweat shop... And then I think that would be kinda cool, to have little people working for me... I could pay them with lollipops.

I have lots of friends who homeschool, and they seem to do okay. And their kids never get in trouble at school for saying things like "Peacock". Instead they do cool things like go to the beach and talk to marine biologists... or jump in mud puddles.

Hrmmm...

Homeschool.

For the record I mostly think I am crazy when I start thinking these thoughts... I am someone who needs alone time and when I don't get it I being to feel REALLY insane. Also for the record, my hubby does not think I would be great at homeschooling our kids, because lets face it... I SUCK at math, and I would probably just fill the day with crafts and stuff... but maybe not, maybe I would surprise us all and be amazing... Or not. *sigh*

I never seem to have enough time to sit down and write everything down! My life has been full and busy lately, and I have not been able to come share everything.

Last weekend my hubby and I drove down to Tubac AZ. and stayed at the Tubac Golf and Spa Resort. We stayed there last year for our anniversary, and this year for our late birthday celebration. Both of our birthdays are in April.

This place is wonderful. We stayed in our own casita. I am pretty sure it was the casita anyways... we had only one King size bed in the room though. :)

From their website:

The 16 Casita 800-square foot suites are beautifully decorated units, with a large living room and separate bedroom. The living room has a convenient pull-out couch and cozy fireplace, and the bedroom has two queen size beds and a private patio.
The two-bedroom Casita suites come with high-speed internet access, walk-in doorless showers, jet tub and sleeper sofa. The Mexican tile floor accentuates the warmth and beauty of the main fireplace, and each private patio looks out onto one of our many breathtaking Southwestern vistas. Some units also have kitchenettes.

Yeah... it was pretty much heaven. We also ate at both of their on site restaurants, and the hubby got in a round of golf Sunday morning while I sat in the cart and took pictures. I am not really into golfing, but the course was beautiful... and I think I will try golfing next time we go down there. I did get some great shots of the local wildlife... a cardinal, and another bird with a yellow tummy. I will get those up later.

On our drive home we had a really great discussion filled with dreams for our future... One in particular I am holding on to. I think its the best idea EVER and I want to make it happen... Maybe I will talk more about this sometime in the future... not now though, this particular dream is years off still but I cannot stop thinking about it. CANNOT stop thinking about it. I really want to talk about some of my idea's with some of my uber creative friends and maybe author friends to see what they think :) But even if it is something like 10 years or more off... it excites me!

Also, I don't think I have shared here on my blog yet... but we are moving. FOR REAL this time, we are REALLY moving. We are going to be renting a house about 10 minutes from where we are now, and we move starting June 1st. I am looking forward to this move for many many reasons, I think it is perfect timing and I look forward to the new adventures that wait in the new house.

I have a lot more to write, and maybe I can find time later today or tomorrow. I also want to get pictures of Tubac up, the place is almost magical... I don't say that about the desert very often either ;)

I know I have mentioned before my friends over at readergirlz... but I think I should mention it again :) Recently they won a MAJOR AWARD!

And I don't mean the lamp from A Christmas Story... They won an Innovations in Reading Prize from the National Book Foundation! This is fantastic!

In addition to this Justina was on their local news. If you look close you can see my friend Lorie Ann (wearing the fabulous scarves) as well... and if you look REALLY close you can see a necklace I made for Justina :)

This is also why I don't buy bottled water if I can help it, and I recycle... So if you buy something from me don't be surprised if it comes in a re-used mailer. :)

What can I say about Lisa... I absolutely adore her.

Some of my favorite memories EVER involve her.

She has THE best hair.

She makes me laugh till I cry.

She introduced me to the Pork Barbacoa Salad at Cafe Rio... Get it with the Cilantro Lime Vinaigrette Dressing, WOW! It is fantastic.

She is a true, loyal, lifelong friend.

She thinks that "Foogerts Frozen Yogert and Smog Checks" is just as funny as I do. She is one of maybe 5 people in this world who will even get that at all ;)

Swine Flu...

And other times, one of the kids poops in their underwear as soon as you get to the park and unload all your jewerly making supplies and sand toys...

Today was a FABULOUS day. The weather was perfect. Not too hot, not too cold. A slight breeze, bright blue sky with puffy white clouds, and a nice sunshiny sun. Perfect.

Me and the kids went over to the park. Them, toting their sand toys... me, my jewelry making supplies. And we stayed there. ALL day. Well, for about 4 hours anyways. Did I mention the part about the day being perfect? Cuz it was :)

While I was there I made some new necklaces, and made some headway on a new First Beach Charm Bracelet... And pushed the kids in swings, and basked in the glorious sunlight... Bliss.

When we got home, I made us dinner. Mac N Cheese for the kiddies, Garlic Snow Peas with Spicy Peanut Tofu for me. I am trying to eat healthy again... seeing as how I am getting bigger and bigger, like when you put a marshmallow in the microwave.

After dinner I was craving something sweet, so we got in the car and drove to Fresh & Easy, where I picked up a bunch of fruit... and some dark chocolate covered pecan pralines. YUM-O!

Now the kiddies are all in bed, most of them are asleep... Kayden is watching the end of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and here I am at the computer catching up on Dollhouse, Bones, and Supernatural.

Did I mention that I loved today?

Belated Project Book Babe Photos

So... I admit it. I am perpetually behind on EVERYTHING. I mean, yes... Project Book Babe was on the 4th of April, and here it is 10:32 PM on April 20th. Obviously I need to learn some time management skills. Not likely.

Oh well, here are some pictures anyways. I was REALLY far away, so some of these are not great quality as the lighting was, well... not great. But what a great event it turned out to be, I was so happy I was able to go.

Lily at the lake

When I was in Utah over spring break I got to take some fun pictures of my sister when we went out to Utah Lake. She was wearing our Grandmothers old dress from the 70's, and my Mom's turquoise jewelry. My sister is gorgeous.

I took a TON of photo's, but here are a couple. I will load more as I get the chance. I have been experimenting with different editing techniques... Still trying to decide how I feel about the second photo. I like it... but did I over do it? Its hard to know after looking at it for too long. I still am trying to come up with enough money to buy Lightroom and Photoshop CS4... *sigh* But this seriously old copy of Photoshop CS will have to do for now :)

I still have many photo's of THE Lisa to upload, as well as Project Book Babe... I swear it will happen. Soon...ish.

Today has been one of those days...

My 3 and 4 year olds brought me the lovely gift of dead kittens this afternoon... It seems the neighbors brand new (3 weeks old) kittens somehow found their way into our back yard and were quickly killed by our dogs... And my boys found them when they were out there playing... and thought they were alive... and were PLAYING WITH THEM! I almost passed out when Jett smiled at me and said "Look at these cute kitty's we are playing with mommy!" and the poor things head was rolling around on its body...

*shudders*

I found 5 kittens, all dead. I hope there aren't any others back there. I now have to figure out how to properly go about telling the neighbor. Ugh.

After that happened my 7 year old came home from school with the message that he had been using inappropriate words. Oh dear... what was he saying you ask?

Peacock.

Yes, he was saying peacock... and then breaking it into two separate words and trying be funny... not realizing that what he was saying was actually NOT funny, and it got him into trouble. peacock... pea...cock... pee... well, you get the idea.

okay... maybe that bit about the peacock is kinda funny... just a little... and it sorta takes away a little bit of the dead kitten horror... just a little. But I can't tell him its kinda funny... Nope, that is a very bad word and we don't say that... no we do not.

The reason I chose this print from all of my prints, is because it really captures the foggy mysterious look I imagined from the books.

She likes to read, a lot, and thinks Harry Potter was the best series ever... until she discovered Mortal Instruments... and then she said that was the best series ever, but only because Potter was over... And because "Jace is hot".

She used to sneak into my room when I was sleeping and hide under my bed waiting for me to wake up. She also would sleep walk to the kitchen to get herself chocolate milk.

She and I share the same crazy personality, and if I were still 18 we would probably share the same crazy wardrobe.

She likes Napoleon Dynamite, and Nacho Libre... Because she has amazing taste in movies, just like me.

Learning...

I have been working very hard to LEARN the technical aspects of photography. Sure, I can see something that would make a pretty picture and point my camera at it and shoot... but I want to understand the HOW and the WHY behind all the settings I can use, and I want to master them. I have read my users manual several times, and while it all makes sense while I am reading it somehow I was getting all screwed up when it came time to implement what it said, so I would switch back to Auto and let it be.

I have been reading dozens of photography blogs, looking through flickr to see what it is people are doing in their photo's. I want my photo's to look as good as possible right out of the camera, so that any editing I do will mostly be to enhance the photo, and not to fix what I didn't get right in the camera.

My husbands friend is a photographer, and he has started to teach me. Its amazing, for some reason, all the times I read everything about how to do this or that to achieve this or that in a photo it all just didn't make sense to me when it came time to apply it. And then, after one time working with him and him sitting with me showing me, it suddenly clicks in my brain. HOW did it not make sense before??? I have already gotten a little better, I hope I can continue to do so. In general my only subjects to practice on are my children, since I spend all day with them :) Here is one of the photo's I took of Kayden this week.

Working...

I have been creating lots of new jewelry for my shop these last couple weeks. Most of it Twilight stuff, just because that seems to be what is selling the most. Which is fine with me, I have all the money I need for Squam now, and I am working on the money for my plane ticket now :) I will also likely have a vendor's spot at TwiCon this year selling the Twilight jewelry and my Twilight prints. That should be a fun weekend!

Another thing I am working on is getting into better shape. Now... this is not coming along very well LOL! I honestly think I have a thyroid problem and I will be setting an appointment with a Doctor soon to get it checked out. I hold no illusions that I will EVER be a size 4 again. But if someone cuts back their calories to roughly 12 to 15 hundred a day you might expect they would shed a few pounds... even just ONE! but I have actually gained weight. AMAZING! I have magical powers of expandability! so yeah... Trying to find the motivation to continue with this whole getting in shape thing that so obviously works for me *sarcasm*. I think I mentioned a while back that I stopped eating meat, and for the most part I am still going strong with this. I have had an occasional nibble of chicken, and I made chili last week (I ate around the meat, but it was still in there LOL). This has made it so i very rarely eat out. Fast food doesn't offer many non-meaty options. I have been eating a lot of Tofu and brown rice with veggies... Again... you would think at least a FEW pounds would have decided to go away and leave me along. Wouldn't you???

Living...

Life is good :) We are still here in Arizona, and it looks likely we will remain. At least for a while. Which makes me sad because I want to be with all my friends and family in Utah, but happy because I get to stay near all my friends and family here for a while. We are going to Utah for spring break though... maybe we will change our minds for the umpteenth time LOL! That was especially funny to anyone who has known us for the last oh... 3 years or so. EVERY time we have visited Utah we have come home making pronouncements of moving there within a few months time... we even sold a business once... and then ended up staying here. *sigh* I guess when the timing is right we will be there... right?

I am super happy that American Idol is back on! I LURVE this show... although the way they are getting to the top 12 this year is not my favorite. So far, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Adam Lambert ( I saw him perform in Wicked when I was in LA last year, and he was simply amazing. Like Uh.Maze.EENG!!!) And Danny Gokey, and the girl with the pink streaks in her hair... But mostly Adam, There is something about a guy who can REALLY sing... his range is ENORMOUS, and I admit that I dig his eyeliner, and nail polish... and did I mention his voice? YOWZA!

Also, I wanted to share something fun I created over the weekend and will be adding to my shop soon. I have made several of these with the word Forks, and several with the word Cullen on them... They are my Forks Forks ;)

I made this one from a silver seafood fork. Its real silver baby :) The rest of them that I will be listing are all stainless steel, I only had the one that was actual silver... I will have to be watching the ebay auctions to try and get more silver ones. Random fact: Real silver is expensive! The stainless ones are equally as cool as the silver one though.

In other news, I sent off my registration to Squam yesterday, I sent it Priority :) I am so excited for September to come so I can go! I am taking a song writing workshop from Jonatha Brooke, who as many of my friends know, is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE musicians. I have been a fan since I was about 15... that is a long time! I emailed her because I was nervous about taking it as I don't actually play any instruments, unless you count my voice, and she put me right at ease :) She is so cool. I am also taking 2 other writing workshops and a painting, mixed media type class. I just know that these classes (especially the writing ones) are exactly what I need this year. I have been talking about writing a book for about 10 years, I am excited to take these classes and hope they give me some tools I need to get started writing :)

I have been very busy lately, spending time with my family, trying to put together a cookbook (HUGE cookbook... I am making it for the TwilightMOMS website and there are HUNDREDS of recipes that were emailed in...) and making jewelry to list in my shop. I have made several of my butterfly wing necklaces, and of course I have still been making Twilight inspired jewelry. The Twilight stuff is a big hit, and I have been working hard to make money so I can attend Squam later this year.

The image above is my latest design, I just listed in my shop tonight. I am loving my new supplies! I bought a couple sets of alphabet metal stamps a few years ago, and never used them... And as I was packing to move I found them again and thought they would be fun to use. so I purchased the rest of the items I would need to make jewelry with them and went to town! The necklace says "Plus que ma propre vie" which means "More than my own life" in french. This is the saying that Bella had inscribed on the inside of the locket she gave Renesmee.

When I was in Utah over Thanksgiving my sister asked me to take some photo's for her for head shots. I am still learning how to do everything, but here are a few of the shots we got. I noticed that most of them were a little underexposed, and so I have been playing with the settings on my camera, and learning a bit about how to fix problem. I can't edit RAW files in my version of photoshop (I have an old version of CS, and it won't open the RAW files from my camera), and I have heard that that makes it easier to fix something like this that was underexposed... I will have to save up for a new version of photoshop soon... AFTER I pay for Squam :) I am going in September and hope to be able to meet some new and old friends there :)

These first 2 are some of my favorites from the photo shoot with my sister. She is so beautiful!

This last one is one my sister likes a lot, I think its okay, but it was so underexposed I had to do a lot of editing to make it work. I also think the focus is a little soft on her eyes, you can tell in the larger version.

I am really enjoying my camera, I have not had a lot of time lately to use it, but I pick it up every chance I get.

Pictures of the Twilight Live podcast in LA part one...

When I went to LA last month, I went straight from the airport to the book store where I helped out with (read: wandered around and did things occasionally when asked to, and then took pictures...) the Twilight Live podcast. It was a blast. I got to meet some really fun people, listen to some talented musicians, and briefly meet some of the actors from the Twilight movie. It really was a good time and I am so happy I was there.

The Twilight Music Girls performed some songs during the podcast and they really were very good. For the most part I don't actually listen to any of the Twilight inspired bands, they just are not really my thing... But I have to say these girls had real talent. The songs were not too obviously Twilighty... and I liked the sound of the music. I liked the song Breathless best I think, sung by Lyndzie Taylor. She's my favorite :)

Jekyll and Hyde sped up...

Last night, or more correctly very early this morning... My sister, cousin, and I were entertaining ourselves watching video's on YouTube and we came across these 2 gems.

I seriously can't stop laughing when I watch them. Jekyll and Hyde is one of the best shows I have EVER seen, I was lucky enough to see it with the Original Broadway Cast, Linda Eder and Robert Cucciolli were phenomenal. The Hoff did not do the part justice at all, his voice and acting irritate me. But these video's of The Hoff singing bring me great joy ;)

Is it sad that I think he does better in this part as a chipmunk?

Seriously... that first part of the first one makes me cry I am laughing so hard :)

There are so many things I have not had time to blog the last few months... I don't know how to even TRY to catch up.

First thing, I went to LA and photographed the Twilight Premier on the red carpet for TwilightMOMS.com and it went smashingly ;) I came home with about 1300 pictures for 2 days... I took pictures of the Twilight Live podcast (which was so much fun, and very well organized) I still have to finish editing and resizing those... but they will be done eventually, and then I will post them :)

I got some really great shots on the carpet, and was able to meet most of the people in the movie. I got hugs from Steph when she saw me, and she got lipstick all over my face LOL! I got hugs from Ashley and Rachelle when they recognized me as the girl who gave them their necklaces. Both of them told me they wear them all the time, and Peter told me the day before that Jennie loves hers and wears it as well. Nikki was sad because she never got hers, so I am sending another. Everyone from the cast was so wonderfully nice, and I had the best time. After the red carpet Kirsten, Britten and I went to an after party hosted by the lovely people doing TwiCon, then we went to the REAL after party where my friend Mary and I got to go in for a while... more on that soon.

I can't wait to show you all the pictures from LA, but in the mean time here are a couple...

I have a TON more, but those should do for now :)

2 days after coming home from LA I went to Utah and we were there through Thanksgiving. We had a nice time relaxing there.

I will update again soon and hopefully have more pictures of everything we have been up to.

Tomorrow I leave for LA again... I will spend a good portion of the day once I arrive helping out with a podcast where several of the actors from the Twilight Movie will be participating, as well as people from a good number of the top Twilight fan sites. My friend Britten will be on there representing TwilightMOMS. Then we will meet up with some other friends that night and just hang out.

On Monday, I will be at the red carpet for the Twilight Premier :) I will be interviewing people as they come down the carpet and taking photo's for TwilightMOMS.com!!!! I am really excited... and also really really nervous. I am still learning how to use this new camera of mine. And there is SOOOO much to learn and to know.

So... wish me luck, and keep your fingers crossed that I will get some good shots :) Also, maybe send some healthy mojo out into the universe for me as I seem to have lost my voice, YET AGAIN! I kinda need my voice on Monday so I can interview people LOL!

Arg. I checked the mail yesterday ( I only check it every few days) and I found a letter from the State Voter registration people... It seems that when I registered, somehow I missed some vital step in proving who I am... Not sure which step that was, as I followed each of them very closely, but whatever. According to the letter I needed to re-register and provide some more information, the part that is very Grrrr inducing is that in order to be allowed to vote I would have needed to have this done and into their office TODAY... And that was not able to happen.

I am very frustrated.

Very VERY frustrated.

At least I can watch this and get some giggles... I think I am in love with Tina Fey, she is hilarious :)

In about 32 hours I will be leaving my house. My hubby will drive me to the airport, where I will meet my loverly friend Kendra.

Kendra and I will then board a plane destined for Seattle. Upon arriving in Seattle we will meet up with the ever fabulous duo Kirsten and Britten.

The four of us will kick it at the airport for a while as we all wait for everyone to arrive... there will be lots of us!

These ladies will be all be there:

As will a few others I have not met yet. 27 of us in all... in the group I am in! There will be other groups, and there are people in those groups that I am looking forward to meeting as well :)

There will be a dinner at Bella Italias, there will be a Bon Fire at First Beach... there will be hiking in the Hoh Rainforest, and letter boxing at First Beach. We will have our own Ya-Ya campfire at our cabin complete with headdresses we have each made ourselves. There will be breakfast at the Forks Coffee shop :) There will be fun, and magic, and friends... and I can't WAIT!

I sure hope Forks is ready for us!!!!!

Last week I had the most incredible opportunity to go to LA for a few days and meet some of my best friends for the very first time. It was one of those experiences I can't quite explain... Words fail me, there are not words that describe exactly what it was like. I can say it was amazing, or wonderful... or magical... But none of those words fully convey what it was truly like to be there. I want to at least get the outline of the weekend down, and then post lots of pictures... But I really wish I had the words to describe in detail what it felt like to be with some of these people. My world is changed.

First off, I have to thank my husband, he is my favorite person in the world. I love you Chad! The whole experience happened because of him. Chad bought us some tickets to the LA Breaking Dawn Concert with Stephenie Meyer and Justin Furstenfeld, and can I tell you the concert was SO much fun! And Justin Furstenfeld is officially at the top of my cool people list... I have always liked angsty rock boys anyways, and he is SO fantastically amazing. He is talented, and soulful and his music ranges from slightly tortured to hopeful... LOVE it! Plus his hair rocks, and he wears eye liner... *sigh*

At the concert I met SO MANY people that I know from online, but have never met in person... I mean LOTS of people. Every time I turned around there was someone else that I knew, it was like a huge convention of people from TwilightMOMS. It was GREAT! I had no idea so many of them would be there, I was totally blown away. Catherine Hardwicke (Director of the Twilight Movie) was even at the concert, at least for a little while before she was mobbed by a huge crowd of girls wanting her autograph. Also in attendance that evening was Levar Burton and his daughter!

Anyways, like I said before, the concert was great, I cried several times when Justin sang. After the concert was a blast, we just sat in the auditorium for a while so we didn't have to fight the crowds, and ended up being almost at the back of the line. A few people came and found me to tell me Steph was asking where I was (insert fan girl squeeling here) which made me smile... I know, I am a dork. But that was established long ago. Finally we made it to where Stephenie was signing books, and said hi, we didn't say much else, there was a crazy collector guy (A few of us have named him Angry Sweaty Guy) in line who was yelling at a security guard about something and everyone was obviously a little freaked out... So we just said our hello's and moved along :) I was excited because I finally got to meet Elizabeth, Steph's publicist, whom I get to talk with via email but had never met until last Thursday.

After we were all out of the signing a group of us decided to get some food at Denny's... and middle of the night insanity ensued. And finally around 3 or 4 in the morning we all made it back to our hotel rooms and crawled into bed. Here, again I need to give my hubby kudos as we were sharing a room with 2 other women that night and he was the only representative of the male species. We were all collapsing into fits of giggles at this point and couldn't for the life of us figure out what was so funny :)

The next morning (Friday) we all woke up, an Chad had to work (sucks I know!) so I went with all the ladies to get some lunch, and then we took a bus to Santa Monica Piers. SUCH A BLAST! We rode the carousel, ate cotton candy, played in the surf, rode the Ferris Wheel, and basically just played around. When it was time to leave we grabbed a cab and went back to the Hotel... where Chad told me he had bought us tickets to see Wicked! *Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaa*

I have wanted to see Wicked for several YEARS now, and finally being able to see it was just the icing on the best couple of days EVER. The set was just amazing. And the cast was just as good as what I have heard of the Original Broadway Cast. I cried during this show too. There was one part in particular that really just touched me, towards the end of the show Elphaba and Glinda sing a song called For Good. And as cheesy as it is, it made me think of the magical time I had had the last couple days with my friends, and I couldn't hold back my tears :) Here is a little section of the lyrics.

The Dance of Friendship

Last September as I was blessed to "meet" a group of women who really really have changed so much in my life. Truth be told I have never met most of these women face to face. I may never meet some of them face to face... Although I really really hope to one day. But we have created such a strong bond we rarely go a day without checking in with each other, either through phone calls or email.

This morning I received this in my email from one of these beautiful people. And I wanted to share it here.

I saw this piece tonight on So You Think You Can Dance and it brought me to tears. Not just because the dance itself was beautiful and moving emotionally on its own, but because it reminded me of all of you - your beauty, your grace, your kindness and your constant friendship and charity.

It was also very symbolic - the part where one girl fell off the stage into the other dancers' arms and then the other fell back onto them and they rocked her back up to the stage reminded me of how we are all there for each other through the trials we individually face in our own lives - how we catch one of us whose falling and then are ready to comfort another.

I was especially touched by the very end - when the last girl's hand came up to reach for something that wasn't there and the other one caught it and brought it down to rest on her head. It was like even though we are all spread out over this planet, we reach out for each other every day and find someone's hand to hold, or wise council to receive or funny craziness to laugh at, or special insight to share, even if it only is through cyberspace ;)

Can Mrs. Cranston please come to the Kids Club?

Today at the gym while I was working out furiously I hear my voice being announced over the loudspeaker... At first I thought something really cool had happened because it is Customer Appreciation Day at my gym and I was hoping I won something nifty, like maybe a years worth of free personal training and healthy meals prepared by my own personal chef... But as I listened closer I heard that sadly I had not won anything, I was just being called to the Kids Club.

Turns out Kael (my youngest) had told one of the new ladies that he needed to go to the bathroom... Kael is NOT potty trained... So she let him into the bathroom and after a few minutes knocked on the door to check on him. He told her to "hold on a minute" which sounds like "hoed onna mint". So a couple minutes later she knocks again, and this time cracks the door open to check. Kael had removed his shorts and thrown them on the floor, he had also taken off his diaper and attempted to FLUSH IT DOWN THE TOILET! Effectively flooding the bathroom, and soaking his shorts which were on the floor.

When I arrived, Kael had been moved into the other bathroom (for privacy since he was at this point mostly naked) and a maintenance woman was busy at work cleaning the bathroom he had flooded so efficiently. Well, I was not prepared with an extra pair of shorts for him, but I did have a pull up in my backpack. Praise the lord. So, when we left the gym a few minutes later Kael was totally stylin' with his t-shirt and pull up ensemble. On the way out I saw a few people giggling... I was very glad that I had that pull up packed in my gym bag... toting him out there with his junk all over the place would have been just fabulous... Without a doubt he would have grabbed said junk and said something horribly embarrassing like "wook at my wiener!".

Good times...

Kayden: On saving the planet and killing bad guys...

Kayden: Mom, can I play Halo 3 please?

Me: No... I don't want you to play that game, it is not a good game for kids.

Kayden: *slightly louder and whinier than his first request* But MOM! I LOOOOOOVE that game! Why can't I play it?

Me: There is too much violence in it... it is a daddy game. I don't want you to play games where they shoot each-other and beat each-other up and kill each-other.

Kayden: *nearing full blown hysteria* BUT MAAAWWWWWMMMMMM! It's to kill the BAD guys!

Me: I don't want you to think that is okay... It is not okay to kill. I am not letting you play that game... Go play Viva Pinata or Ratatouille or something.

Kayden: *giving me MAJOR attitude to the point I SWEAR he almost did the Z snap...* But WE ARE SUPPOSED TO SAVE THE PLANET! How can I save the planet without killing the bad guys huh? What if I am walking down the street and a bad guy comes up to me and aims at me??? I HAVE TO KILL HIM! Saving the Planet is IMPORTANT! I learned all about how important it is to save our planet at school, we are supposed to recycle and conserve... And I HAVE to save the stupid planet! I want to be in the army so I can save the planet... (incoherent mumbling and complaining...)

Summer break has not even started yet for his school, and already I am ready for the break to end...

Happiness... found! Creativity... LOST!

I used to write... a lot. Words would just pour out of me. Now, not so much.

I got happy, and somehow I lost my words. My words were fueled by some kind of inner sadness, and now that its gone I cannot write!

I also am unable to draw, or take very interesting photo's... I can still make jewelry though.

I am not sure how I feel about this...

Maybe I need to load up my ipod with slow melancholy songs and read that section in The Host... You know, the section where Wanderer makes a certain decision, and there is some begging and a lie, and a sacrifice... Yeah that section. Maybe that would do the trick.

Meanwhile I guess I will go around smiling and happy like my picture here, even though I seem to have lost my words.

Playing catch up

There are so many things I have been doing... and I have been so very busy... I have have been SO very neglectful of my blog.

Since I will NEVER have time to catch up on all the blogging I have not done, I will make a little list of the things I have been up to, if for nothing else, because this is my journal and someday I want a record of my life... crazy as that life may be :)

So... here are the things that have been happening in my life, in no particular order.

* Kayden lost his second tooth shortly after he lost the first

* I am still working like a mad woman on my jewelry orders :) I have 10 more to do this week so far...

* It was my birthday on the 11th, and Chad's on the 18th. I feel old :)

* We went out of town to a place called Tubac for our birthdays... more on that later

* A few weeks ago I met up with a big group of wonderful ladies that I met on TwilightMOMS. Read about that HERE. There are pictures in there too.

* I got to do an interview with Kellan Lutz and Sarah Clarke.

* I have been busy making jewelry... have I already mentioned that?

* I have been enjoying hanging with my kids... even when they drive me nuts... and in regards to the pictures below... I have NO idea why they put those toys there... no idea at all *shakes head*.

* I went to a book signing and met Lisa McMann and Cassandra Clare. good times :) Notice the necklace Lisa is wearing... yup :) Lisa is uber cool, we have emailed back and forth a bit a while back.

* I have discovered that Viva Pinata is a very addicting game... Must.Make.Pinata's.Romance!!!

* I got together with my girl Mary from PCM and we had a blast making crafty things :)

* I am now a blonde again... well, mostly.

So... this is kinda crazy!

A few weeks ago after I did the Q&A chat with Ashley Greene (Alice Cullen in the Twilight Movie) I messaged her and asked her if I could make her something... we talked about it for a little while and she said yes. She told me she loved my designs and would LOVE to have one.

Fast forward to today, when I see this article. And for those of you who don't know how to use a clicky link (mom) I will give you a real one too :)

My absolutely favorite part of the article... is this:

A lot has also been made of Alice Cullen’s heightened sense of fashion, and whether the early shots of Greene are staying true to it. Appropriately, the actress revealed to me that some of the die-hard “Twilight” fans might be helping her out on that front.

“A lot of people want to make jewelry for me,” she laughed, referencing some of the fan-mail she’s already received. “There is a woman you makes her own jewelry and sells it, and she wants to make me some, and I said ‘Amazing, send it to my manager and they’ll get it right to me’.”

Unfortunately for the fan, however, Greene doubts any of her “Twilight”-inspired jewelry will end up on screen. “I don’t think I would wear it in the movie, because with wardrobe, if I have one necklace I have to have 30 of the same necklace, because it’s an action-type movie,” she explained. “But I will definitely try to get it [some exposure] somewhere. I’m sure there are gonna be plenty of interviews and guest appearances.”

I might actually die! Seriously... I might die. I already thought she was one of the most adorable people ever, but now I love her even more.

Girls Night Out spoilers for 10,000 BC

On Friday my friend Kendra and I had the ultimate girls night out. We met up with Stephenie and some of her other friends at PF Changs for a really good dinner. We all shared family style, there was a few orders of the lettuce wraps, and then about 6 other dishes... My absolute favorite was the Mongolian Beef, and then there was some kind of spicy pork thing that was delicious as well. ALL of it was good though.

We all had a really great time over dinner. Steph and her friends were all SO very sweet and nice. I knew one of her friends from TwilightMOMS, but the others I had never met or talked to. We all sat around the table, talking about EVERYTHING. We talked about our families, epidurals (they all were amazed I had my babies at home without one LOL), cars, what it was like when Stephenie met the cast for the Twilight movie, her new book coming out, The Host... And pretty much anything there was to talk about.

At the end of dinner, Steph scooped up the check before anyone else could touch it and she paid for us all. THANK YOU Stephenie! I was not expecting that, and then I was silently cursing myself for not carrying any cash so I could pay some of the tip or something. Note to self: Carry around more than 1 dollar in cash... You might want to pitch in towards something at some point that you need cash for...

After dinner, we left the restaurant and walked over to the mall, and then through the mall to the movie theatre, where we saw one of the STUPIDEST movies ever made... luckily it was not surprise that the movie was going to suck... we had all prepared ourselves mentally for the hotness of Steven to be overshadowed by the stupidness of the movie.

Okay... 10,000 BC. WHAT IN THE WORLD?!?! First off, aside from the obvious idiocy of having Mammoths and Pyramids on the earth at the same time, there were just SO many things wrong with this movie.

I will start with something that is at least good-ish... Steven. He is very nice to look at. He has a nice chest, and nice abs... and holy moses his arms... the man has splendid arms... Oh, and his brilliant smile that makes me melt into a puddle of goo... yeah, Steven is pretty much delicious in every way imaginable. I have been known to make my kids watch Sky High, just so I can catch a glimpse of his beauty.

However... In this movie, he has a big head of messy hair that often gets in the way of his beautiful angel face. He also has a bunch of facial hair that really does nothing for him. At one point in the movie he had food stuck in his goatee... I wanted to reach through the screen and wipe it off for him.

Also good in this movie, Camilla Belle. She is undeniably beautiful. There is a scene where she is wearing this beautiful flowing blue dress that perfectly matches her eyes... gorgeous. But... even her beauty can not make up for the crappy story line of the movie.

The movie just does not flow well... one minute D'Leh and Tic Tic (yes, one of the warriors is named Tic Tic) are trekking through the frozen mountains... half frozen to death. Snow as far as the eye can see. And in the next instant they are walking through a jungle, and one of them says "It is hot here". Ummm... okay? Oh! And we all had a good laugh at the man eating chickens, as Steph dubbed them. And that is exactly what they were... they looked like giant hatchling chickens, running around in the jungle, eating the humans, and all the while making strange yodeling sounds.

After they make it out of the jungle they are suddenly transported into a desert, that looks just like Arizona! Steph leaned over and said "Hey, when did they come to Arizona?" and we laughed again. In this desert, D'leh (Steven) falls into a big pit that begins filling with rain water in a way very reminiscent of Apocalypto... As the pit fills, D'leh realizes he is not alone in that pit... oh no he is NOT! There is also a very large, admittedly cool looking, saber tooth tiger! The tiger is stuck under some fallen lumber and the water is getting deeper and deeper... the tiger will DROWN! D'leh stands up, and at first he is going to kill the animal... but he then decides to free it. "You will NOT eat me, if I free you!" He says this in a strange english accent... So he free's the tiger, and the tiger leans in real close to his face... slobber dropping from the beasts great fangs. Then the tiger scampers away out of the pit.

Apparently D'leh gets out of the pit, because shortly thereafter he and Tic Tic arrive in a small village. All the villagers run out with spears and threaten them... But, the big tiger jumps into the scene from out of nowhere and keeps the villagers from attacking! Then as the tiger turns to leave, D'leh and the tiger exchange meaningful glances and it was then that we decided his special talent must be that he is a "Cat Whisperer".

Anyhow... the movie goes on, and other things happen that just don't make sense... like when instead of following the river to where the "demons" took all the people in their village and his true love... they walk through the middle of the desert. Whatever. Basically the whole movie sucked and was unintentionally funny :) We giggled through the entire thing, so really it was a good time.

Anyways, after the movie, we all decided we needed dessert... so we walked all the way back over to PF Changs and got the most amazing dessert... The Great Wall of Chocolate.

These pictures do not do this masterpiece justice. It is a HUUUUGE piece of the most delicious, decadent, chocolate cake EVER. The raspberry sauce was to die for! We got 2 of them and between 7 of us could not eat it all. It was great, picture if you can, 7 women attacking 2 giant desserts with their forks... no need for plates, we were too eager to eat it. SO GOOD! We stayed there until they closed and kicked us out the door. :)

We left PFC's with the intention of all going to our cars and going home... somehow that didn't exactly happen. We made a quick stop at the book store that was closing so someone could use the rest room, It was in the book store where I finally pulled out my camera and asked to take a picture or 2.

In the first picture is Kendra, Me, and Steph. The second one, also has Jen in it, She is Steph's friend that I know through TM's.

I absolutely love how my shirt balloons out in that second picture especially and makes me look pregnant... cool... *sarcasm* But, really I don't care too much. It was a great night!

Well, we left the bookstore and walked over to the corner where we would all go separate directions to our cars... and somehow we ended up standing there, talking for another 2 hours! Again, we talked about everything... we discussed books, and movies, and church, and anything you can think about we probably discussed. SUCH A GOOD NIGHT! Finally though, we decided we all needed to go. Poor Kendra had an almost 4 hour drive ahead of her to get home, and it was already 1:00 in the morning... She would have stayed at my house but she and her family were leaving to drive to Mexico early that morning... So, we all said good byes, gave hugs, thanked each other for a great time, and headed back to our homes.

All in all, a perfect night. I could not have imagined the evening to turn out better. Steph and all her friends were so wonderful, and I never felt nervous even once. I guess it helps that I have been she and I have messaged back and forth for a while, but really it was just like meeting up with a bunch of people I already knew. If I ever get a chance to meet up with any of them again, I would be so happy. But I am just thrilled I even had the chance once. One of the best girls nights EVER!!!!!

My new project with readergirlz, and other stuff :)

Wow! It has been so long since I have posted... I feel so out of touch with blog land lately. I just wanted to post quickly and let all my bloggie friends know that YES, I am still alive (thank you very much for asking). I have just been incredibly busy with so many different things... I have not had the chance to do any blogging, I have fallen so far behind on reading blogs its not even funny.

I do have to say that even though I have been incredibly busy, it has been a very good thing! I mentioned in my last post (I think?) about some Twilight related pedants I had been making... well HOLY CROW! I believe I started selling them in the beginning of February and since then I have made and sold somewhere around 50 of them... I could count, but I really don't want to right now :) A couple of you asked to see them, so here they are.

Also, I have now been made assistant administrator and MEDIA REPRESENTATIVE on TwilightMOMS. So, basically I am just in charge of a few more things, and help Lisa and Kathy make things run smoothly... I have also spent a good deal of time contacting the actors from the movie and setting up interviews! So far we have had Peter Facinelli, Ashley Greene, and Justin Chon on for Q&A's with a few of us. They are all amazing!!! We have QUITE a few things up our sleeves right now... but I can't say anything yet until we make it public... but OH MY EDWARD if you are at all into these books you will seriously have a heart attack... I am helping arrange it all and I am almost freaking out :) Oh, and have I mentioned yet just how amazingly cool all the actors have been? Peter is seriously one of my favorite people ever.

And now, on a slightly different note... but not really... Tomorrow Kendra and I are meeting up with Steph (yes, that is correct) and a few of her other friends for dinner and a movie. I hope not to make a complete fool of myself... But I am beside myself with excitement. The woman is so fun and down to earth. So... If I decide its not too nerdy I am going to take lots of pictures! OK, even if its nerdy I am taking pictures... so check back!

We had a very low key Valentines Day today. Chad had to get a root canal this morning, so he pretty much felt like crap all day. But, we got to spend time together and that was really nice.

I took Kael and Jett to McDonalds this morning while we were waiting for Chad to get out of the Dentist and they had a lot of fun making new friends. I enjoyed sitting back sipping a cold Dr. Cullen (Pepper for those not in the know).

As of today I have officially sent out 17 of the 30 something Twilight pendants that have been ordered... I was not really expecting so many people to buy them so quickly... I had 20 orders within less than 24 hours, and the rest have been trickling in. I need to get them done before my next big project that starts March 1st. As Steph would say "Silly Georgia"... I should have known better! Twilight fans are rabid, I should know, I am one!!!

Warning: This is a long-ish post with lots of pictures... If you are only interested in the picture for Self Portrait Challenge, and do not want to read my ramblings, it is the second one down:)

Lately there is a portion of every day where I would look exactly like this if you were to look at me from where my iMac sits.

That is immediately followed by something similar to this:

It is all thanks to a lovely group of friends I began getting acquainted with back in September-ish. I know I mentioned the Twilight Mom's before, but I feel I have to mention them again. These ladies are SO much fun! Who knew that a group of random strangers could meet up in a message board and become such fast friends? I certainly didn't.

When I was in Utah over Christmas, I was lucky enough to meet up with some of them for breakfast.

My breakfast... It was yummy, it deserves a moment in the spotlight.

This is Jen (Twila) and Amy (Yogagurl)... Amy was demonstrating Yoga poses for us on the floor of Village Inn at one point during our breakfast, which sadly I did not get a picture of.

This is me, Meg (Megatha), and Lisa. Meg and I actually went to High School together and re-connected again on Twilightmoms.com. Small world :) And Lisa is our "Coven Mother", she started the website and brought all of us crazy fans together.

We were all in an especially good mood this morning because Stephenie Meyer herself had spent several hours the previous evening online chatting with us all... Good mood is actually quite the understatement. Steph (I am cool, I can call her that now) told ME that she LOVES the pendant I gave her at the book signing I went to last summer, and she thinks it is INGENIOUS! Yes... I nearly died.

Well, my Twilight Mom's and I are planning a HUGE trip to Forks this September. We have already rented 2 cabins, and made reservations at Bella Italia in Port Angeles (The restaurant where Edward and Bella went...) for 24 people... We are planning a MASSIVE slumber party, complete with Rock Band, karaoke, AND a Ya-Ya-esque campfire (headdresses and Twilight name required) We are all working on gifts to exchange, and we are also exchanging scrap book pages so we can have a page from each person in our Forks scrapbooks. My friend Kendra and I will be flying out to Seattle together, and meeting up with all 24 of the ladies there to start our super huge Twilight weekend:)

Yes... I am a nerd. And I don't care one lick. I am celebrating this year. Celebrating all my wonderful new friends, with whom I have so much more in common than just these books... I think it was Stephenie that said it was a "kindred spirits thing"... Or maybe it was Rhonda... I will be having a GINORMOUS celebration come September with all these ladies, and I can hardly contain my excitement :)

I am sure most of you are aware at this point... but if you are not, I am a total book lover. I absolutely adore reading. When I was a child I used to beg my mother to lie to my friends and tell them I could not play... Just so I could go read my books. I love getting lost inside of books. I really cannot think of very many things that are better than reading a good book. Chocolate? Good. But, better with a book. Dr. Pepper? Oh so yummy... But even better with a book... You see what I mean?

My new friend Justina, Readergirlz Diva and author of Girl Overboard, posted this list over at her blog. I wanted to share it here, because I agree with it. I feel that its important to support our local indie businesses, and because I love to read I feel it is very important to support our indie bookstores.

So, without further adieu, I give you Justina's Fab Five Ways to Support Your Local Bookstore:

1. Attend an in-store author event. Actually, don't just attend one event. Attend a bunch of them. The sad thing is that so many author events aren't attended by many people. Oh gosh, at readergirlz, Ann Brashares (she of Sisterhood book, movie, and fame) told us about a recent signing where NO ONE showed up. SAD for the author, but GOOD for you. This just means that you might have a super intimate conversation with one of your favorite authors of all time.

2. Bring your friends. Make a pact to bring a group of friends with you to these author events: the more, the merrier. It could be a standing date with all your favorite readergirlz buddies: author comes to town; you all head out to hang out with the writer.

3. Buy first edition books…from your local indie bookseller. Soooo…about 7 years ago, my hubby trotted home with an auction catalog from Sotheby's where they were selling off a book from the very first UK printing of Harry Potter 1. He said, "We should go for it!" I said, "What? That's the dumbest investment idea I've ever heard of. We should invest in…HomeGrocer.com." (I know, I know.) Well…guess what that first edition copy is worth now. And it's not just Jo's books that become valuable. But forget collectability…go to 4!

4. Give books as gifts. (And books autographed to your BFF are even better…) Over at readergirlz, we created our gift giving guide for the holidays: Best Books for Your BFF. Those bookmarks, filled with fun and fabulous book lists from our beloved postergirlz advisory committee (the smartest and kindest and most expert children's lit bloggers on the planet), are actually perfect year-round. Books are a gift from the heart. Your heart.

5. Negotiate a Package Deal with Your Bookseller. I thought this was such a good idea from University Bookstore here in Seattle. They're offering a bundle of autographed books from visiting authors for a set (read: discounted) price. Why not pitch this idea to your local bookseller? Eoin Colfer, Jon Scieska (new Children's Lit ambassador for the U.S.), Libba Bray, Shannon Hale and so many other fantastic authors are TOURING the country right now. As in: RIGHT NOW. If they're heading your way, talk to your bookseller. That way, even if you can't attend the booksigning, you can still get a book personalized for yourself and / or your BFF.

Justina ends her post with this:

Long live (and love) our independent booksellers. Feel free to REPOST these ideas everywhere. And finally, what else do you think we can do to support our booksellers?

I also wanted to make mention of the Go Overboard Challenge Grant again, because I think it is such a good thing. If you know anyone between the ages of 12 and 20 you should tell them about it. We can all make a difference in this world.

Readergirlz and Girl Overboard

A few months ago my love (read: obsession) of all things Stephenie Meyer lead me to a wonderful group called Readergirlz. Readergirlz is basically an online book community created by 4 superfantasic ladies... The Readergirlz Diva's: Janet Lee Carey, Lorie Ann Grover, Dia Calhoun, Justina Chen Headley, and a recent addition Mitali Perkins.

Immediately upon discovery of Readergirlz, I joined their myspace group and began participating in the various discussions. Can I tell you how much I LOVE these ladies? They are warm, and inviting, and passionate about literature... That is pretty much the recipe for a good friend in my book :) I absolutely LOVE to read, I mean LOVE it. so finding them was kinda like coming home... PLUS, Lorie Ann and I have exceptional taste in men... We BOTH love us some Jacob Black, and Severus Snape! But I digress... :)

When I discovered them, I added them to my friends on myspace. Imagine my shock, joy, awe, wonder... pick a word... when one of the Diva's actually contacted me. Justina messaged me on myspace one day and we started talking. Our conversation lead to Justina placing an order for several pendants as Christmas gifts to the other Diva's.

They turned out very pretty if you ask me :) Each one has 2 different beaded charms that they can choose from.

After Justina gave the other Diva's their pendants, she emailed me again with another order. I was already thrilled with the thought that they all had these pendants I had made for them, but now I was ECSTATIC!

Her new book Girl Overboard was just released, and Justina wanted 10 pendants for her book release party. At this point I was (still am) totally on cloud nine. I still feel so honored that she even asked me. After playing around with the design for a little bit, this is what she and I decided on. The front has the title of her book, over the background of her book cover. The back has a small quote from the book.

They turned out cute huh? I think so...

I wanted to add something here about something Justina is doing that I think is really great. She has partnered with Burton Snowboards and Youth Venture, they are co-sponsoring the Go Overboard Challenge Grant. If you know any teens who you think could help make a difference in this world, or maybe already are, send them over to that link. The people who submit the best idea's will win 1000$ to help them towards their goals.

Readergirlz has been so good to me, I just wanted to tell everyone about the great thing they have created. If you get a chance you should go check them out, you will be glad you did! Read their manifesta it makes me smile :)

Paua Shell Pendants

I listed some more items in my shop tonight... One of them was this Paua Shell Pendant Necklace. I have several more of these that I will be listing over the next few days. I am excited to be offering these at a little bit lower price than some of my other pieces. They do not take as much time to make because I do not have to cut glass for them. But I think they are very beautiful. I have always loved the look of Abalone (Paua shell is a variety of Abalone from New Zealand). Come by and take a look!

Soup, Salad, Breadsticks, and Dr. Cullen...

Jakeward the Bear, and the worlds first ever Dr. Cullen...

Last Saturday I had a lovely dinner date with my new friend Kendra. I met Kendra in October in the forums of our Twilight Mom's group,(Yes, I am completely obsessed with the Twilight series... I believe I have made that abundantly clear with my gushing on and on about the books... WELL, apparently I am not alone and there is a WEBSITE for all of us crazy obsessed mom's to go hang out and discuss the finer points of the books) and we instantly hit it off. Kendra also lives in Arizona, a few hours away from me... So, naturally we began scheming and plotting a meeting as soon as was humanly possible. That meeting finally happened last weekend at The Olive Garden in Mesa.

As I ran in the door (a few minutes late) I saw Kendra standing there waiting with a big huge gift bag! We sat down and exchanged gifts, I gave her a tin full of magnets made using butterfly wings. She gave me the worlds most awesomesuperfantastc gift EVER :) She gave me that adorable squishy soft Team Switzerland bear (I have named him Jakeward), the play lists for all three of the books in the series (Stephenie Meyer creates a play list for each of her books... always awesome music), and the worlds FIRST EVER Dr. Cullen (An inside joke, we started calling Dr. Pepper by the name of Dr. Cullen in tribute to our favorite doctor... YES I AM A TOTAL GEEK)!!!

We sat and talked and ate, and talked, and ate... and giggled, and laughed... and ate, and talked... and so on and so forth for FOUR HOURS. We literally stayed till they closed. We got there at 7 and slowly shuffled out the doors at 11, where we proceeded to talk for a while longer. It was SO fantastic. Kendra is one of the coolest, sweetest people I have ever met.

She might be here again in a week or so... and if she is we are going to see August Rush together. Also, the Twilight Mom's are planning a trip to Forks WA. Yes that is correct. A big group of us are planning to meet up in Seattle next September and we are doing a "tour" of the places in the books. We have already rented a BIG cabin in Forks for us to all stay in... the more the merrier if any of you Twilight Mom's who read my blog are interested... you should go to the Twilight Mom's site, sign up for the forums, and then go to the thread entitled Twilight Mom's Forks trip.. or something like that. You can PM the lady who is putting it all together and join in on all the fun!!! Oh, and there is a possibility that Stephenie Meyer will be in Forks that weekend as it will be on Stephenie Meyer day and Bella's birthday... *squeeeeeeee* But, back to my original topic...

Saturday was SO great, I can hardly wait to meet up with Kendra again. I believe she is officially my first online friend I have ever actually met in person. :) I am supposed to be meeting with a big group of them in Utah when I go out there for Christmas too, that is going to be so FUN! I love my Twilight friends:)

Once again, if you are a Twilight fan, come join us in our insanity! If you are not... then you need to read the books already!!! :)

I have been feeling pretty overwhelmed lately... as made obvious by my last post. And I wasn't even sure exactly why I was feeling that way... I knew I was just starting to feel crazy. After sitting with my thoughts for awhile, and talking with a lovely friend, I began to realize that I just needed to take a step back for a moment and breathe. I need to reevaluate my priorities and perhaps shift some things around. And that is ok.

I was frustrated with my business, because I want to be making more money. And as a wife and mother of 3 young boys, it is HARD to get out of the house to do shows. Thea reminded me that I have this lovely thing at my fingertips called the internet (who knew?) and that I could take some steps to improve my business using just that. So, even though I would LOVE to be out working all the shows with my Mafia Familia, I will be happy doing what I can with the group, and not knocking myself out trying to do everything.

I was also frustrated with some issues at church... Well, there is nothing I can do to change the minds or perceptions of other people, but I can take control over myself. I know that everything that happened was because someone thought they were doing the right thing. I also know that it is time to let it die. I hate that I have held on to it for as long as I have. I know that what happened will most likely still irritate me from time to time, but I will not dwell on it. I will continue to live my life the ways I feel are right for me, and try not to worry about what other people tell me I need to live like. Also, I may ask to be released from my calling if I continue to feel overextended. I have never been one to do that, but I am slowly realizing that in order to function well I sometimes have to let go of some of the stress.

My husband works very long hours and is almost never home before 7 or 8 at night... many time it is even later than that, 10:00 at night is not a rare thing... and there has been quite a few times where he does not get home till 1 or 2 in the morning. This means that anytime I need to go to a meeting or anything related to my calling (which by the way is often) I need to call a babysitter, and right now we really can't afford a sitter much, so I don't end up going... Working in scouts has added significantly to the stress pile... While I REALLY like the woman I work with, and I also think the boys are fun, I don't really know if I can keep it up. I do not feel comfortable doing something if I cannot give it my all and do a good job. Right now I am not doing well at it, I have not made it to the meetings and even had to cancel one. I am still not sure if I will ask to be released or not, I need to think hard about it.

So, that is where I am at right now. I am feeling pretty good, not nearly so crazy as I was before. I am ready to focus on my family, and on finding ways to increase my business online so I can add to our income. I am also ready to take a step back when I need to and make sure I am taking care of myself a little bit too.

So, in an effort to increase business online I listed several items yesterday in my shoppe :)

How does a stay at home, mother of 3... the oldest of which is turning 6 tomorrow by the way... do it all?

Is it even possible to have a business that is successful, keep a house clean-ish and organized-ish (it's a word... I swear), AND spend quality time with the kids and hubby... Not to mention have a life... you know, the kind with friends and girls nights out...

There is so much to write about right now... And I don't know how to say any of it. I do know that everything I want to say has lots of really cool expletives in it... The kinds of words I try to avoid typing in my blog because people at church will see it and get their panties in a twist (It's happened, I can't handle being pulled into someones office at church again to discuss the contents of my blog or I might unleash all the power and fury of those previously mentioned expletives on their ass. And that would not be pretty...) And allow me to say that if you are someone from Church and you are reading this, what I said just then was in all likelihood NOT directed at you... the only person that was directed to KNOWS it was for him... So, heads up. IF YOU WANT TO "DISCUSS" THE FACT THAT I SAID "ASS" IN MY BLOG, I RESPECTFULLY DECLINE! If you want to be a normal human being who does not want to discuss things that are not now and will NEVER BE any of your damn business then we are good. Wow... why can't I say that out loud? I wish I could have said all that out loud a year ago... I wish I had a freaking voice.

Okay... I got WAY off track just then. Apparently I have some issues. And apparently more than one thing is bugging me and I only just figured that out. Sorry you must bear witness to my current state of mind. What I originally came here to write about was my frustration with not being able to do it all. Why can I NOT do it all? I need to explore this whole thing more... but I can't do that all here, I need to think about it all. Then I will come back with something that actually makes a bit more sense than all this that you just read.

Rusty wings and other things

This last week I finished some new pendants and necklaces... And I wasn't sure how I felt about them at first... But I think after I wore this one around for a while they are growing on me. Yeah... Wearing a smile

Today I am wearing a shirt with this mornings breakfast smeared on the hem...

I am wearing my favorite comfy pants (the ones that still fit because they stretch) even though they have bleach spots on the butt...

Today I wore mismatched flip-flops, because they were all I could find and I didn't want to wear my fluffy slippers, although I am totally not above doing that... I did it yesterday infact..

Today I have a hair clip in my hair keeping it off my face, because my hair decided today was a good day to suddenly be curly.

Today I wore a smile on my face... Even though my printer had broken, and I thought my warranty had expired. Even though my two year old has decided that naps no longer matter in his world and he would rather play... Even though that means I no longer have that little amount of time in the middle of the day to *try* and work on my business *if* my three year old will stay occupied...

I wore a smile on my face, even when I didn't really feel up to it. I didn't give in to feeling upset and overwhelmed. And you know what? It all worked out okay. :) My warranty doesn't expire till December, so they shipped me a replacement printer head today. Kael does not nap anymore... but I got some more play time with him, and it was wonderful. I will just have to find ways to be more productive in the time that I do have to work now.

Karen--- Boobs? Huh? Look again at the picture. Weren't you the one who endured the AUNT MARTHA ENEMA? So maybe you have psychologically blocked this obvious image out of your conscious mind, because of that fateful day in Mesa.

Dad would say, "Hoo, Let me show you my scar...", so so in this case, maybe I will a D. DWAYNE Brimhall, and rip open my shirt, revealing Brimhall chest hair, and showing ample Man Boobage, and say "Hoo, Let me show you my Sphincter." I keep my water bottle close to my chest to keep the water warm— When I am not in need of a good cleansing, I can use it Like a Camelback water hiking backpack, and suck on the tube to drink the stored water—my cleavage serves as the perfect spot to store the drinking end of the tube.

And look again at the picture. What do you think Abe is thinking?

I think the design of the earrings are all wrong. The bag part should hang from a piercing at the top of your ear, and then the tube is the stretched down and inserted into the inner ear. In fact, this could be modified to be used for hearing aids, iPod headphones, and Secret Service agent headsets.

This image makes me feel compelled to explore other things on the www.lunaparc.com website, but honestly, I don't know if I should open that can of worms. I'll never be able to shut it.

I don't have much time to blog tonight... I am gearing up for a big show tomorrow... I have to be up by 5 am!!! But, I wanted to post something really quick.

A little while back I was contacted by Jenipher from Cherry Runway. She is so sweet, I loved messaging back and forth with her. Anyways, she did a write up on me and my Shop today! Pear Salad... or Edward Salad, whatever :)

I am having a hard time thinking of things to post for this months Self Portrait Challenge. I keep thinking f photo's after the opportunity is gone. Like, Chad and I went camping this weekend... perfect chance to take some camp food pictures... I forgot :) I was cooking (I know a big shocker) the other night... like a REAL dinner. And I forgot. So, today I FINALLY remembered!

This is quite possibly the most delicious salad you will EVER taste... if you are lucky enough to taste it. My friend Jessica made it for me one night when we were having a movie night. And I have never been the same since. I mean, this salad has changed the way I look at salads. It may just be the most addicting thing I have ever tasted (aside from chocolate and Dr. Pepper... and Chicken Tika Masala...) It is like the heroin of salads. Ooohhhh. like if Edward were a salad! Seriously. SO.GOOD! Maybe I will rename it Edward Salad... It is SO fitting, because he is so delicious... Now I need a Jacob themed food... Some kind of dessert perhaps?

Cheese Pervert Chuck-a-roni

I made a gourmet spread for dinner tonight. Leftovers. Leftover Cheeseburger Macaroni. *gag* But, whatever. The kids will eat it without hiding pieces under the table for the dogs, or something. And I am tired of cooking healthy dinners only to have NONE of the kids eat them! Fine. Corn dogs and macaroni it is :)

Kael got excited when he saw his dinner... So excited that he yelled its name very loudly. "Cheese Pervert Chuck-a-roni!!!!" I almost died laughing :) So... I think this meal now has a new name in our house. I love when kids say things the wrong way. This might be one of my favorite examples yet though.
